Joining hands to boost education for the children of Zanzibar
Fathers And Kids Camping is partnering with the CR Hope Foundation to make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of children in Kizimkazi, Zanzibar.
Challenge
Around 140,000 children in Zanzibar between the ages of 4 and 15 are out of school. Poverty, lower educational attainment of the household head and living in a rural areas are all factors associated with a higher likelihood of 4-15 year olds being out of school.
Solution
Fathers And Kids Camping has joined forces with CR Hope Foundation to expand their existing school, Seeds of Hope, and to double its capacity. This collaboration, entitled Impact Zanzibar will be rolled out in 4 phases:
Laying the concrete foundation for 5 additional classrooms
Building the 5 classrooms along with wash basins and boys/girls bathrooms
Building a world-class playground for all the kids
Installing a rooftop solar PV system to power the school
The budget for these 4 phases is $100,000. This represents the most ambitious undertaking in the 11-year history of Fathers And Kids Camping. But as we have shown in the past, we always find a way to reach our goal.
We are grateful to all those who can help us cover the costs of the construction and playground materials so that our Impact Zanzibar team can then carry out the works on the ground with the help of a local contractor during 9-15 May, 2021.
You help make this project become a shining reality by supporting us via our dedicated Global Giving portal: www.globalgiving.org/fundraisers/ImpactZanzibar
As of 22 April, 2021 we have received funding from over 50 individuals. We have also been blown away by the generous sponsorship provided by our 9 corporate partners listed below. As a result, we have now reached over 90% of our target; just 10% left to cross the finish line!
Strong Track Record
Impact Zanzibar represents the 5th philanthropic endeavor of Fathers And Kids Camping in the past 5 years. Our other accomplishments include:
Building 4 classrooms and a solar-powered computer lab for an orphanage in Zambia in partnership with Mothers Without Borders which has allowed 100 children to gain access to primary education.
Building 3 solar-powered water stations in 3 villages in Kenya in partnership with Project Maji which is today providing clean drinking water to 5,000 villagers and school children.
Delivering 30,000 warm meals to blue collar workers in Dubai who lost their jobs due to COVID19 in partnership with Classic Catering, UAE Food Bank and 300 students from across Dubai.
Preparing, packaging and serving 5,000 meal boxes to low-wage workers in Dubai Industrial Park during Ramadan, in collaboration with Classic Catering.
These achievements were made possible thanks to the time, effort and funds provided by our members. We have also been very fortunate to draw on the support of partners such as: Linklaters, KGS, Houlihan Lokey, HPS Worldwide, International SOS, Emirates, KIDDO and SEW Uniforms.
Impact Zanzibar is an excellent opportunity for us to demonstrate to our children the importance of sharing and the impact we can have on our planet by pushing beyond our comfort zone.
